WHO AM I?
I'm Katie and I love solving problems - in learning, in design, and in helping others thrive.

My background is a bit unconventional. I started in language and linguistics, working with diverse learners around the world - I’ve designed training for NGOs, universities, and non-profits, tackling challenges that required creativity, resourcefulness, and a deep understanding of people and how they learn.

That global, scrappy, problem-solving mindset is what I bring to instructional design. I specialize in:

-
Simplifying complex concepts: Using my linguistics background to break down difficult topics, I’ve turned complex concepts into engaging, learner-friendly content that improves comprehension and retention.
-
Design learner-centered learning solutions: Drawing on my teaching experience, I understand diverse learner needs and create customized training programs that maximize effectiveness for a wide range of audiences.
-
Deliver results under any conditions: My experience in low-resource, high-pressure settings has honed my ability to innovate and problem-solve, consistently delivering high-quality outcomes on time and within budget—whether adapting training programs in disaster zones or meeting tight deadlines with limited resources.

I can help you develop a range of materials including eLearning modules, videos, job aids, and instructor-led courses and presentations.
If you’re looking for a mission-driven partner to build meaningful learning experiences, let’s connect! ✨

Fun Fact!
I lived in Southeast Asia for about 11 years. I know Burmese and (some) Thai. I've also formally studied Spanish, Arabic, and Greek.

WHAT I LOVE
I love learning! That’s why I enjoy languages, traveling, and reading a good book.
I also enjoy running, climbing, making art, and spending time with my nieces and nephews.

I also like giving travel suggestions. Sharing is caring.

Bagan is an ancient city in Myanmar with thousands of pagodas. If you like history and riding an e-bike, I'd definitely recommend a visit when it's safe.

The Urak Lawoi people live on islands in southern Thailand. I was fortunate to work with them on a project. Traditionally, they go far out into the sea to dive - often with no equipment, not even GPS.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta happens in early October every year. It's unlike anything I've experienced before.

If you like hiking, Mount Rainier is probably a bucket-list item. But, if you're in the area, you should go to the San Juan Islands - they're stunning.
